Our First Garden

We planted our first garden this year. It has been a lot of fun and work in the making. Everything is planted now and almost everything has sprouted up a little something. We are growing tomatoes, strawberries, cantaloupe, broccoli, sweet peas, green beans, onions, zucchini, cucumbers, bell peppers, basil, and parsley. We also planted a few huckleberry and blueberry bushes around the yard, they aren't pictured. The plan is to water daily, sit back in our sun room and see what happens. We'll give you an update later in the summer...

The garden from the yard. Matthew built me the beautiful raised bed, it is wonderful.

Lilia is 9 months old. In her first 9 months she has grown so much. She is the happiest little thing and is always making us so proud.

Little Lil is in the Kitchen

Watch out little Lilia's in the kitchen cooking with fire. She got her first little kitchen set today and has found a whole new world of play.

Yummy...

Back side of the kitchen is a "living room" with a bookshelf, radio, and the perfect little daisy to finish it off.

Having fun.

Lilia's kitchen has it all a sink, toaster, an oven, stove top, fridge, and even an overhead light. They all make real noises too.

Mother's Day 2009

This was my first Mother's day celebrated with a child of my own sweat and blood, not that Kaine and I don't share our own shorts of sweat and blood together because we do. My mother's day gifts were more than anything I could have ever asked for. Matthew made me a slide show of each of the children, they were each so beautiful. I can tell he spent a lot of time picking out a song for each of the kids, pictures and videos. I've probably watched each one about 10 times already and I still get teary eyed, I have a sweet husband. But that's not all... Kaine made me the most wonderful card I could have ever imagined. I took some pictures of it because I love it so much.

Mother's day we had a picnic at Willamette park in Portland with Matt's mom and Grandma Joyce and his brother and fiance. It was very nice. We brought sandwiches and lemon bars, Matt's mom made homemade macaroni salad, Grandma brought some wonderful strawberries and it wouldn't be a picnic without the BBQ chips, thanks Casey and Amicia. We played badminton, went for a walk, and enjoyed each other's company. I think a good time was had by all.

Nana and Kaine 07

Nana and Lilia 08

Matthew's Grandma, Kaine and Lilia's Great Grandma, better known as Nana passed away May 2nd. A service in her remembrance was held this past weekend on Saturday, May 9th. Nana's service was beautiful. The sun shone bright just for her that day. We enjoyed listing to everyone's memories of Nana. She is loved.

Nana was one of the sweetest women I have ever met. She loved everyone, especially her family, I felt privileged to be a part of her family. Nana's hugs and kisses will be missed, but we will never forget her sweet spirit. On Nana's birthday when Matthew was ten years old he wrote her this poem

A Grandma like you is one of a kind
That comes along once in a life time

You are great so fun so good
I think you deserve this
O boy you should

I hope you never go far
Like to another planet
Or even a star

I love you so much I could die
When you read this poem I hope you don't cry.

We are honored to have known and loved Nana and feel so blessed that our children could love their Great Grandma too. In Nana's memory we planted a Nana bush, it is a California Lilac, we look forward to watching it grow and remembering our sweet Nana.
